New York Open Time in UTC: First Sessions on the New Clock

The New York open on the new clock is 14:30 UTC (17:30 MSK), one hour later than in summer, and it has not happened yet. The London open was already tested today: at 08:00 UTC (11:00 MSK) BTC barely reacted, up 0.17% in the hour after. US clocks went back on Sunday 1 November, so Monday 2 November is the first trading day where London and New York both open on winter time.

What changed on the clock

Each fact below was checked at its primary source on 2 November 2026:

• UK: GOV.UK says clocks go back "1 hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October" and return to Greenwich Mean Time. In 2026 that was 25 October, so London time equals UTC again.
• US: NIST says daylight saving time ends at 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of November, which was 1 November 2026.
• NYSE: the NYSE hours page lists the core session as 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET. After the change, Eastern Time is five hours behind UTC, so the cash open is 14:30 UTC. In summer it was 13:30 UTC.

London open on the new clock: what the chart did

We measure from the last candle before the open. The 07:55 UTC candle closed at $78,113.85.

The 08:00 candle ranged $117.87 and closed at $78,195.88 (+0.10%). The average 5m range in the hour before was about $77, so the open candle was wider, but only by a few dozen dollars. BTC then drifted to a high of $78,405.66 at 08:40 UTC and closed the 09:15 candle at $78,243.99.

The whole post-open range was $327.65, or 0.42%, and the 1h move was 0.17%. That is not a meaningful London-open move, and one hour proves little either way. The New York rows stay empty until after 14:30 UTC; we do not estimate them.
